The official X (formerly Twitter) account of HJ Novels announced an anime adaptation of Suzuki Makishima's Nihon e Youkoso Elf-san. (Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!) light novel on Thursday. Makishima began writing the comedy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in February 2017. Hobby Japan published the first volume under its HJ Novels imprint in August 2018, featuring illustrations by Yappen. The ninth volume was released on October 19.
